COVID-19

The library is under PA’s three phase matrix. Even though Westmoreland County will move to the Yellow Phase on Friday, May 15 the library will remain CLOSED to the public. At this time, there is no official opening date for any library in Westmoreland County. We follow guidance from the Office of Commonwealth Libraries and Department of Education. There are a lot of details to work through during this time that will focus on a four phase reopening. When we do reopen, our services will look a bit different as we adhere to guidelines related to social distancing, masking, and quarantining materials. We have to plan for your health and safety as well as the health and safety of our library team.
We’ve increased our digital services and resources in order to continue to meet educational and recreational needs. Browse our collection of over 14,000 ebooks, eaudiobooks, and streaming video, and keep an eye on our Facebook page for new programming opportunities.
Thank you for your continued support. We hope to see you soon.

FAQ: COVID-19 Library Closure

*Can I place an item on hold? What happens to my existing holds?*
Patrons can still sign into their library accounts and place titles on hold, but no holds will be fulfilled until the libraries can re-open. Once we can open, holds will resume being filled in the order they were received. Your place in line for pre-existing holds will not change.

*I don’t have a card. Can I still get ebooks?*
Yes! If you do not have a library card, you can get an e-card. This digital card will give you immediate access to ebooks and audiobooks.

To register for a digital card that grants access to our eBooks and eAudio collection only:

  • Visit https://www.wlnonline.org/how-do-i/library-card/ and click the “register now” link.
  • You will need to enter your name, birthdate, mailing address, and email address.
  • The digital library card is only available to Pennsylvania residents over the age of 13 who do not already have a WLN library card.
