Summer Reading Events

See below for details about our Summer Reading events for our Summer Reading program. These events will all be in-person. Registration is required for events.


June 30th: Kick Off Event 6:00 & 6:30pm (choose timeslot)

Beginning June 10th– Register for Kick Off Night (currently at wait list)

Enjoy an evening with us to kick off the Summer Reading Program!
*Stuff and adopt your own ocean reading animal: You will pick your reading pal of choice, stuffing packet, rainbow wish star, and birth certificate.
*Receive information on how to sign up for the free summer reading program (Runs July 1-29) and get a free goodie bag (while supplies last).
*Mike the Balloon Guy will be here creating free balloons animals to take home! IF you cannot stay for the adopt an animal portion, feel free to stop in and get a balloon from 7-8pm!

You can track your reading on Beanstack or on a paper log, just let us know what works for you when you register. Paper logs can be picked up the last week of June at the circulation desk.
There are reading programs for ALL ages and reading levels. Registration is required for the Kick-Off event. Phone the library to sign up 724-568-2212. Space and supplies are limited. We can’t wait to see you!


June 13–>: Drop-in Craft

*STOP IN TO MAKE A FISH CRAFT FOR OUR SUMMER READING DISPLAY. One fish per child.

July 14: MAD SCIENCE PITTSBURGH: Life in the Sea; 6:00-7:00PM

Children explore different ocean ecosystems and learn about the plants and animals that live
there. Classifying creatures from sharks to sponges gives them a taste of ocean diversity. In Whales
to Scale, they compare shark and whale teeth and measure the size of these incredible predators.
Hands-on activities teach the interconnectedness of an ocean food web and the consequences
of overfishing.
*Hands on, educational, interactive science program.
*Free Family event. Suggested for grades ages 5-12

July 21: Escape Room Night 6:00pm **wait list**

August 1: Finale Celebration 6:00pm

Join us on the library lawn to celebrate the finale of the summer reading program. Families can join us for a fun and entertaining finale event with an Oceans of Possibilities Magic Show with Magician Steve Haberman!
*Bring your own chair and blanket
*Kona Ice on site (for individual purchases)
*Prizes awarded
*BYOB (bring your own blanket) or chair!
