The Vandergrift Public Library provides all citizens in our service area with free access to a wide array of learning and daily living resources and creative hands-on programming, supporting life-long learning, empowerment, and enrichment for the whole community
The Staff
The Vandergrift Library is supported by a dedicated staff committed to providing quality library services and programs for the community. Our team includes the Library Director, who oversees daily operations and strategic planning; the Circulation Desk Manager and Interlibrary Loan Manager, who manages patron services and coordinates resource sharing with other libraries; the Collection Manager, who develops and maintains the library’s collection of books and materials; and the Youth Program Manager, who plans and presents educational and recreational programs for our community’s families.
The Board of Trustees
The Vandergrift Library is governed by a Board of Trustees that provides oversight, establishes policies, and helps guide the library’s long-term planning and mission. Working in partnership with the Library Director, the Board is responsible for ensuring the library remains a valuable resource for the community through sound governance, financial stewardship, and support of the library’s services and goals.

Services
- Wi-Fi: Free wireless internet access is available to library cardholders. Guest access is available at the circulation desk.
- eBooks & eAudiobooks: Borrow digital books and audiobooks with your library card.
- DVD Collection: Browse and borrow a variety of movies and television series on DVD.
- Audiobooks on CD: Check out audiobooks in CD format for all ages.
- Public Computers: Library cardholders may use public computers. Guest passes are available for visitors who do not have a library card.
- Meeting Rooms: Meeting rooms are available for community use. Fees may apply depending on the purpose of the meeting and the type of organization. Please contact the library for availability and pricing.
- Fax Services: Send or receive faxes for $0.50 per page.
- Printing & Copying: Black-and-white printing and copies are $0.25 per page. Color printing and copies are $0.50 per page.
- Westmoreland County Federated Library System: Your library card provides access to the county-wide online catalog, allowing you to search and borrow materials from all 26 public libraries in Westmoreland County.
- Programs for All Ages: The library offers educational, cultural, and recreational programs throughout the year for children, teens, adults, and families.
Membership
Library cards are available free of charge to all Pennsylvania residents. Adults must present a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license, showing proof of Pennsylvania residency when applying for a library card. Applicants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with valid identification. Cardholders are encouraged to notify the library promptly of any changes to their address, phone number, or other contact information.
Public Computers
The Vandergrift Library provides access to five public desktop computers and one laptop for use within the library. All computers offer internet access and include Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
To ensure fair access for all patrons, computer use is limited to one hour per person, per day. Additional time may be available for patrons completing job applications, schoolwork, or other essential tasks, depending on computer availability.
