Teen Alley

In Memory of John Howard Nichols III

The parents of John Howard Nichols III have graciously redecorated and refurnished the teen library and teen activity room on the second floor of the library, in memory of their son. The rooms are renamed the “Teen Alley.”

John passed away from cancer on April 13, 2012. His parents, John & Michelle, wanted to do something for the library in his memory. He loved to read manga and visit the library. His parents gave the library a memorial gift to purchase two sets of manga books.

He was an original member of the library’s teen groups– the Anime Club & Gamer’s Club back in 2007. Discarded and nearly broken furniture had been used by the clubs in the past.  John & Michele provided funding to purchase sturdy, easy-to-clean, modern furniture for both rooms. They even paid for the walls to be painted a lovely, light gray.

It is a privilege, on behalf of the library, to be able to provide a safe, supervised space for teens to gather. We are grateful to John & Michele for their generosity and we will always have fond memories of their son, John.
